fantasy without the magic

When we think of fantasy we usually think of magic, or of totally imaginary fantastic worlds. But fantasy can be written without either of these elements (Mervyn Peake’s Gormenghast cycle being a fine example).

Do you have any favourite examples of this kind of fantasy?
